Yash’s ‘Toxic’ event in Hyderabad disrupted by structure collapse
A pre-release event for the film ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups’ in Hyderabad turned chaotic on Saturday night when a sound and lighting structure collapsed at Malla Reddy University. The incident occurred while actor Yash was addressing a large crowd of fans and students.
Reports indicate that several individuals had climbed onto the temporary speaker and DJ stands to gain a better view of the stage. The added weight caused the structure to give way, resulting in injuries to at least four people, including one student who reportedly suffered a leg fracture. The injured were transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
Yash briefly paused his speech to check on the safety of the attendees and urged organizers to assist those hurt. Following the mishap, Cyberabad Police registered cases against the university management and the event manager for alleged negligence regarding safety and crowd control measures.
Amid the chaos, Yash also addressed recent criticisms regarding the film’s portrayal of women, stating that the movie, directed by Geetu Mohandas, provides a ‘voice for women’ and challenges societal prejudices. The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on August 26.
