Yash Thakur replaces Harshit Rana in India's Afghanistan and Asian Games squads
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has named Yash Thakur as the replacement for Harshit Rana in India's squads for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Afghanistan and the 2026 Asian Games.
Rana was ruled out after sustaining a rectus femoris strain while bowling during a match simulation on September 7. The injury prevents him from participating in the Afghanistan series, which is scheduled to take place in Delhi on September 13, 15, and 17, as well as the Asian Games starting September 28.
Yash Thakur, a 27-year-old fast bowler from Vidarbha, recently made his T20I debut during India's tour of Zimbabwe in July. Shreyas Iyer will captain the side for both assignments. Additionally, Washington Sundar has been declared fit for the Afghanistan series, while Jasprit Bumrah and Nitish Reddy are expected to make their comebacks.
