Yashasvi Jaiswal run out during first Test against Sri Lanka

During the first day of the first Test against Sri Lanka at the Galle International Stadium, Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for 32 runs in a bizarre run-out. The incident occurred on the final ball of the 11th over when Jaiswal collided with bowler Keshara Nuwantha, causing him to lose his footing. This led to a communication breakdown with partner KL Rahul, resulting in Jaiswal being run out.

Cricket experts, including Sanjay Manjrekar and Cheteshwar Pujara, commented on the dismissal. Manjrekar suggested Jaiswal lost focus, while Pujara noted that Rahul should have prioritized the wicket over the single once Jaiswal fell. Despite the loss, India reached 288 for 2 by the end of the day, with Mayank Yadav remaining unbeaten on 131 and Rishabh Pant on 27. KL Rahul scored 77 before retiring hurt due to cramps.

Despite the dismissal, Jaiswal achieved a statistical milestone by becoming the third Indian batter to play in 30 different Test venues, joining Sachin Tendulkar and Sanjay Manjrekar. Jaiswal has scored 2,535 runs across 29 Test matches to date.
