Yashasvi Jaiswal struggles with form during India A tour of New Zealand

Indian opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal recorded a duck in the second unofficial Test against New Zealand A at Hagley Oval in Christchurch on October 31, 2026. Dismissed by pacer Fraser Sheat in the first over, Jaiswal’s performance marks his fourth scoreless innings in nine red-ball outings since August 2026.

Jaiswal’s recent form includes a series of low scores, including 17 and 5 in the first unofficial Test, and a duck in a Ranji Trophy match for Mumbai. This slump has raised questions regarding his position in the opening lineup ahead of India’s upcoming senior Test series against New Zealand.

Despite the early loss of Jaiswal, India A recovered to reach 291/7 at stumps on Day 1. Devdutt Padikkal (80) and Sai Sudharsan (41) provided a 91-run partnership, while captain Dhruv Jurel remained unbeaten on 99 to stabilize the innings.
