Yasin Mohamed on trial for alleged rape of TV partner

A trial is currently underway at the Munich District Court against Yasin Mohamed, an influencer and former professional basketball player for FC Bayern Munich. Mohamed is accused of raping actress Sophie Imelmann in July 2024 during the filming of the RTL2 dating show ‘Love Island V.I.P.’

The prosecution alleges the incident occurred at a hotel in Corinth on the Peloponnese peninsula in Greece. According to the indictment, following a disagreement, Imelmann visited Mohamed’s hotel room to resolve the conflict. While the two engaged in consensual kissing and physical closeness, the prosecution claims Imelmann explicitly stated she did not want sexual intercourse. It is alleged that Mohamed disregarded her wishes and ignored her attempts to push him away.

Mohamed denies the allegations. The court is also examining the fact that Imelmann spent the night in the defendant's hotel room following the alleged assault, which the prosecution suggests was a result of her being overwhelmed by the situation.
