Yasmeen Khan joins South Africa women's red-ball training camp
Former Namibia captain Yasmeen Khan has been included in South Africa's 28-player red-ball training camp. Khan, who was born in George, South Africa, is eligible to represent her country of birth after playing 117 T20Is and captaining Namibia 27 times.
Khan is one of six uncapped players selected for the camp, which runs from September 27 to 30. The other uncapped players include Alexandra Candler, Nicolien Janse van Rensburg, Izel Cilliers, Simone Lourens, and Tebogo Macheke. They join established players such as captain Laura Wolvaardt, Tazmin Brits, Nadine de Klerk, and Nonkululeko Mlaba.
Coach Mandla Mashimbyi stated that the expanded squad aims to build a solid base of players with the skills and mentality required for the longer format of the game. The camp serves as preparation for upcoming home Test matches, including a fixture against India in Gqeberha from December 9 to 12 and a scheduled match against Australia in Potchefstroom in April next year.
