Yatsumura Mura film adaptation set for September release

A new film adaptation of Seishi Yokomizo’s mystery novel ‘Yatsumura Mura’ is scheduled for nationwide release in Japan on September 18. The production marks the 80th anniversary of the debut of the popular detective character Kosuke Kindaichi.

Directed by Takashi Shimizu, known for the ‘Ju-On’ series, the film features an ensemble cast including Matsuya Onoue as Kosuke Kindaichi, Tomoya Oku as Tatsuya, Mayu Horita as Miyako Mori, and Kenichi Takito in dual roles. The soundtrack includes the theme song ‘DOOM’, written specifically for the film by the Tak Matsumoto Group (TMG), led by B’z guitarist Tak Matsumoto.

During a recent promotional event at Tokyo Dome City, cast members and director Shimizu discussed the production and the film’s horror elements.
