Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge marks 10 years with 138 billion lira in savings

The Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge has completed 10 years of service since its opening on August 26, 2016. Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that the project has generated a total economic benefit of 138 billion lira.

This total includes 134 billion lira in time savings and 4 billion lira in fuel savings. Additionally, the bridge has prevented 180,000 tons of carbon emissions, contributing to environmental goals. The infrastructure serves as a critical link in the Northern Marmara Highway Project, connecting Garipçe in the Sarıyer district to Poyrazköy in Beykoz.

Beyond easing Istanbul's traffic, the bridge provides rapid access to Istanbul Airport and facilitates transit vehicle movement without entering the city center. The structure features a main span of 1,408 meters, a total length of 2,164 meters, and towers reaching 330 meters in height. It was engineered to accommodate both road and rail transport while accounting for seismic activity and local soil conditions.
