Yaya Mayweather ordered to pay $50 million in stabbing case
Iyanna “Yaya” Mayweather has been ordered by a Texas judge to pay $50,105,000 to Lapattra Jacobs following a 2020 stabbing incident. The court determined that Mayweather intentionally or knowingly committed an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, while Jacobs acted entirely in self-defense.
The total judgment consists of $40,105,000 in compensatory damages and $10,000,000 in exemplary damages intended to punish and deter such conduct. The compensatory portion includes approximately $105,000 for past medical expenses, $8,000,000 for past pain, mental anguish, physical impairment, lost earning capacity, and disfigurement, and roughly $32,000,000 to cover projected future harms in those same categories.
Mayweather, the daughter of boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr., was not present at the trial. While the judgment is substantial, legal experts note that collecting such large sums can be difficult, and the final outcome may depend on whether Mayweather chooses to appeal the ruling.
