Yaya Touré’s debut as Slovan Bratislava coach fuels fan excitement

Former international star Yaya Touré has taken over as head coach of Slovak champion Slovan Bratislava. In his first appearance, the team beat Cypriot side Pafos 3‑2 in a pre‑season friendly at the Tehelné pole stadium, with more than 6,000 supporters chanting his name.

Touré praised the fans for their warm welcome and said he looks forward to a full stadium for the upcoming Champions League qualifying matches against Georgian club Iberia Tbilisi on 21 July and the return leg on 29 July. The victory and the enthusiastic reception signal a promising start to his tenure at the club.

The match also highlighted contributions from other players, such as Alasana Yirajang, who scored and created chances, and Tigran Barseghjan, who showed good form despite fatigue.
