Yayasan Kebajikan Negara launches first Bilik Kasih Wanita at Sarawak General Hospital

Yayasan Kebajikan Negara (YKN) has introduced the first ‘Bilik Kasih Wanita’ at Sarawak General Hospital (HUS). The facility is designed to provide a comfortable and conducive rest area for female nurses, specifically targeting those who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, Minister of Women, Family and Community Development and Chairperson of the YKN Board of Trustees, inaugurated the facility. She emphasized that the initiative serves as appreciation for healthcare workers who maintain high commitment despite demanding schedules and high patient volumes. The space allows nurses to rest and attend to personal needs during their shifts.

The project was realized through sponsorship from Perinsuran Brokar Sdn. Bhd. as part of a corporate social responsibility initiative. YKN intends to evaluate the impact of this facility at Sarawak General Hospital to serve as a reference for expanding the initiative to other hospitals.
