YDKI and Primaya Hospital Bekasi launch 44th Stroke Club

Yayasan Duta Kreshna Indonesia (YDKI) has partnered with Primaya Hospital Bekasi Barat to activate its 44th Stroke Club. The initiative, launched during a seminar for World Stroke Day, aims to strengthen education, rehabilitation, and support for stroke survivors and their families.

Gema Sasmita, Chairman of YDKI, highlighted the significant socio-economic impact of the disease. He noted that global economic losses due to lost productivity and stroke treatment costs exceed 890 billion USD annually. In Indonesia, the catastrophic healthcare costs for stroke treatment under BPJS Kesehatan have surpassed 37 trillion IDR.

Sasmita emphasized that approximately 90 percent of stroke cases are preventable through lifestyle changes and risk factor management, such as controlling blood pressure, diabetes, and cholesterol. He also stressed the importance of the 4.5 hour golden period for medical intervention to improve recovery outcomes.
