YEDAŞ employee saves driver from choking in Ordu

In the Fatsa district of Ordu, a driver named Remzi Kılıç was saved from choking after a tablet became lodged in his throat while traveling along the Black Sea Coastal Road. Initial attempts by bystanders to assist by patting his back were unsuccessful.

Hakan Özgan, a repair technician for Yeşilırmak Elektrik Dağıtım A. Ş. (YEDAŞ) who was passing by, stopped his vehicle to intervene. Utilizing his first aid training and official first aider credentials, Özgan performed the Heimlich maneuver. His colleague, Özay Çağlayan, assisted by securing the scene and managing traffic to prevent further incidents.

The intervention successfully dislodged the tablet, allowing Kılıç to breathe normally again. Özgan noted that the company provides regular occupational health and safety and first aid training, which enabled the rapid response. Kılıç expressed his gratitude to the team, and his health status was reported to be good following the incident.
