Yeşilay conducts addiction awareness campaigns in Elazığ and Niğde

Yeşilay branches in Elazığ and Niğde are conducting field studies to raise awareness about various forms of addiction, including tobacco, alcohol, drugs, gambling, and technology. Through the ‘Independence Mobilization’ initiative, teams are visiting local neighborhood markets to engage directly with citizens and tradespeople.

In Elazığ, experts and volunteers are providing information and directing those in need of support to the Yeşilay Counseling Center (YEDAM). The initiative aims to protect children and youth by educating families and promoting preventive measures. Harun Gündüz, President of the Yeşilay Elazığ Branch, noted that the organization focuses on both preventing addiction and providing support once it occurs.

In Niğde, similar activities were held at the İlhanlı neighborhood market, where the services of YEDAM were promoted. YEDAM offers free, confidential psychological and social support provided by specialists, including psychologists and social workers. The organization operates across 81 provinces in Turkey and Northern Cyprus, emphasizing that individuals can access help via the 115 YEDAM helpline.
