Yeşilay Half Marathon preparations underway in Istanbul

The Yeşilay Society is preparing for the Yeşilay Half Marathon, scheduled to take place in Istanbul on Sunday, August 23, 2026. A coordination meeting with stakeholder institutions was recently held to evaluate the organization and preparation processes.

The event will feature three categories: a 10-kilometer skating race starting at 07:55, and both 21-kilometer and 10-kilometer running marathons starting at 08:00. Due to high interest, the initial quota of 1,360 participants has been filled, and organizers plan to increase the total capacity to 1,500 by adding 140 extra spots.

The marathon aims to promote a healthy lifestyle and raise social awareness regarding the fight against addictions, including tobacco, alcohol, drugs, gambling, and internet use. The route will begin and end at the Sepetçiler Kasrı, passing through historic Istanbul landmarks such as Eminönü, Galata Bridge, Karaköy, Dolmabahçe, and Balat.
