Yeşilyurt Municipality opens new condolence house in Malatya

The Yeşilyurt Municipality has inaugurated the Hacı İbrahim Güngör Condolence House (Taziye Evi) in the Topsöğüt neighborhood of Malatya. The facility was completed in approximately three months through a collaboration between the municipality and philanthropist Mehmet Güngör.

Yeşilyurt Mayor Prof. Dr. İlhan Geçit stated that these centers serve as vital social spaces for community solidarity during times of mourning. Beyond their primary function, the buildings are designed to serve as assembly points during disasters and can host neighborhood meetings. The facility includes functional areas such as sitting rooms, kitchens, and restrooms.

This marks the third completed condolence house in the district, following the Mahmut Boynukara and Diyarbakırlılar centers. Mayor Geçit announced an ambitious goal to establish a total of 17 such centers in the region. Future projects, including one currently under construction in the İnönü neighborhood, may incorporate Quran courses if land and budget allow.
