Yeison Jiménez memorial unveiled on his 35th birthday

On 26 July, the family of Colombian popular‑music star Yeison Jiménez shared photos and a video of a newly built memorial marking the day he would have turned 35. The site includes a bust of the singer, his signature hat, glasses and chain, and a metal structure adorned with horse figures. The tombstone bears his name, birth and death dates, and the phrase “Con el corazón,” a motto associated with his career.

Jiménez died on 10 January 2026 in a plane crash near Paipa, Boyacá, while traveling for a concert. The accident claimed his life and that of five collaborators. In the weeks following his death, his team released an unreleased song called “Mala de profesión” to keep his legacy alive. Social media also revisited photographs of Jiménez with a woman believed to be his first love before he married Sonia Restrepo, with whom he had three children.

The memorial and renewed public tributes highlight the lasting impact Jiménez had on Colombian popular music and the affection of fans, colleagues, and the wider community.
