Yella Beezy murder-for-hire trial postponed to October

The capital murder trial for Dallas rapper Markies Conway, known as Yella Beezy, has been postponed. Originally scheduled to begin jury selection on September 14, the proceedings have been rescheduled to start on October 26 following a defense motion for a continuance granted by Judge Chika Anyiam.

Conway is accused of hiring Kewon White to murder rival rapper Melvin Noble, known as Mo3, during a 2020 highway ambush on I-35. Prosecutors allege Conway paid White $40,000 to carry out the hit. White was recently convicted of capital murder and received a sentence of life without parole.

The defense requested the delay to allow time to review the trial transcripts from White’s case, as White may testify, and to ensure the availability of key expert witnesses. While White has denied receiving payment for the killing in recent interviews, Conway has entered a not guilty plea and faces charges of capital murder by remuneration.
