Yellow Stars campaign promotes road safety awareness
The “Spring Without Yellow Stars” campaign has been launched to promote road safety awareness and honor victims of traffic accidents. The initiative coincides with the National Day of Yellow Stars on September 21, a date marked by the memory of Paolo Mellano, a 19-year-old who died in a traffic incident in 2003.
In Gualeguaychú, Argentina, the Asociación Civil por la Verdad y la Justicia (ACIVERJUS), in collaboration with local transit authorities, is organizing a community event to paint yellow stars on asphalt. These stars serve as symbols of memory for those lost in road accidents and as a call for responsible driving behaviors, such as wearing helmets, using seatbelts, respecting speed limits, and strictly avoiding alcohol consumption while driving.
The movement aims to transform the tradition of painting stars into a collective commitment to prevention, using the slogan: “It depends on you not to add one more star to the sky.”
