Yellowstone National Park fishing regulations update

Fishing regulations and conditions in Yellowstone National Park have seen recent changes. As of August 12, the Hoot Owl closure for all rivers and streams within the park has been lifted.

However, full fishing closures remain in effect for the Madison, Firehole, and Gibbon rivers (downstream of Norris Campground). Additionally, the Madison and its tributaries outside the park before Hebgen Lake are subject to Hoot Owl restrictions from 2 pm to midnight.

In the Yellowstone River above the falls, fish activity is noted, though the area is busy. In the Northeast Corner, including Soda Butte, Lamar, and Slough, recent rainfall has increased water and sediment levels, though conditions are expected to stabilize shortly.
