Yellowstone National Park receives record $105 million gift
Yellowstone National Park has received a record $105 million commitment to establish a conservation and stewardship fund. The donation, one of the largest single private gifts in the agency’s history, comes from Tallgrass, a Colorado-based company developing an AI power hub near Cheyenne, Wyoming.
In partnership with the nonprofit Yellowstone Forever, the funds will support the Tallgrass WYld Yellowstone Initiative. The initiative focuses on three primary areas: infrastructure upgrades, conservation efforts, and expanded public access. Specific projects include a planned $35 million visitor center at Norris Geyser Basin designed to provide more interactive ranger experiences.
The fund also aims to advance research, habitat restoration, and wildlife protection. Additionally, the initiative seeks to increase opportunities for Wyoming residents and students to engage with the 2.2 million-acre reserve, a goal supported by Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon.
