Yemen and Jordan discuss bilateral ties and regional security

Yemeni Foreign Minister Afrah Al-Zouba met with Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi in Amman to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments. During the meeting, Al-Zouba delivered a written message from Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council President Rashad Al-Alimi to King Abdullah II.

The officials agreed to activate political consultation mechanisms based on a 2022 memorandum of understanding and discussed arrangements for the 15th session of the Jordanian-Yemeni Joint Higher Committee.

Discussions focused heavily on the security situation in Yemen, specifically the military escalations by Houthi militias. Both parties emphasized the importance of protecting maritime freedom in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab strait. Safadi reaffirmed Jordan’s support for the legitimate Yemeni government in restoring security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, while also expressing solidarity with Saudi Arabia regarding regional security.
