Yemen Carries Out Death Sentences in Al‑Bayda Child Murder and Hadhramaut Killing Cases

On Wednesday, Yemeni authorities executed the principal convict in the high‑profile murder of a young girl in Al‑Bayda governorate. The case, which began with the kidnapping and brutal killing of the child whose body was hidden in a well, saw the main perpetrator sentenced to death after a week‑long postponement, while a younger accomplice received a ten‑year prison term and a fine of ten million Yemeni rials.

Later the same day, a separate execution was carried out in Seiyun, Hadhramaut, where Abdou Ahmed Hadi Jarad was shot by firing squad for the premeditated murder of Jaber Mohammed Hafiz al‑Shawuh. The court had exhausted all appeals after more than two years of proceedings, and the victim’s family refused blood‑money compensation, insisting on the death penalty.
