Yemen Central Bank freezes assets of 135 Houthi-linked entities

The Central Bank of Yemen, based in Aden, has directed all banks, exchange companies, and financial institutions to freeze the accounts, assets, and funds of 135 individuals, entities, and a maritime vessel linked to the Houthi group. This directive follows Attorney General Decision No. 17 of 2026, which includes these parties on national terrorism and sanctions lists.

The list targets leaders and officials within the Houthi-controlled government, specifically those operating in the finance, banking, oil, telecommunications, and transport sectors. Notable names include Ali Hussein Badr al-Din al-Houthi and Mohammed Salah Ali Faleetah, who is reportedly involved in overseeing oil derivative supply networks. The measures also encompass officials from the Sanaa-based central bank, the Ministry of Finance, and employees at the Tadhamon Bank (CAC Bank) and Al-Ahli Bank of Yemen.

Information regarding the frozen assets must be reported to the Financial Information Unit and the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Department. Yemeni Information Minister Moammar al-Eryani stated that these actions aim to dry up the group’s funding sources, dismantle its financial networks, and protect the national economy and international shipping from being compromised by illicit activities.
