Yemen cleaning union praises Abyan and Al Dhale for worker reforms

The General Union of Cleaning, Municipalities and Housing Workers has praised the governors of Abyan and Al Dhale for implementing measures to improve the living, health, and social insurance conditions of cleaning workers. These improvements include wage increases and enhanced social security protections.

Thabit Yahya Ahmed, head of the union's executive office, called on the authorities in Aden to follow this model. He noted that cleaning workers in the capital, Aden, currently receive lower wages than their counterparts in Abyan and Al Dhale despite their significant responsibilities in maintaining the city's hygiene and urban appearance.

The union also highlighted the need for better healthcare in Aden, noting that current medical services are limited to a single government hospital with insufficient resources. Additionally, the union raised concerns regarding social insurance, reporting that some workers have discovered their names are missing from official insurance records, necessitating urgent administrative corrections.
