Yemen currency and gold prices show stability in Aden and Sanaa

Currency exchange rates and gold prices in Yemen showed relative stability on Thursday, September 10, 2026, though significant disparities remain between government-controlled and Houthi-controlled areas.

In Aden, the internationally recognized government zone, the Saudi Riyal was trading at approximately 410 for purchase and 413 for sale. The US Dollar was priced at roughly 1555 to 1573 Yemeni Rials. Gold prices in Aden saw 21-karat gold being purchased from citizens at about 187,000 Rials per gram, while a gold coin (8 grams of 21-karat) exceeded 1.505 million Rials.

In Houthi-controlled Sanaa, the exchange rate remained stable at long-standing levels, with the US Dollar ranging between 535 and 540 Rials and the Saudi Riyal at approximately 140 Rials. Gold prices in Sanaa were significantly lower, with 21-karat gold at 64,000 Rials per gram and gold coins at 516,000 Rials.
