Yemen Defense Minister Mohammed al-Atifi killed in airstrike

Military sources in Yemen report that Mohammed al-Atifi, the Defense Minister of the National Salvation Government, has been killed in an airstrike in the Al-Barah area, west of Taiz province.

The strike reportedly targeted a building where al-Atifi was presiding over a meeting with several Ansar Allah military commanders. According to these sources, all attendees at the meeting were killed. As of now, Ansar Allah has neither confirmed nor denied the reports.

This incident follows a previous airstrike in August 2025 targeting a secret meeting in Sanaa, which killed Prime Minister Ahmed al-Rahwi, nine ministers, and the Chief of the Joint Staff, Mohammed al-Ghamari. Al-Atifi had survived that earlier attack but sustained serious injuries.
