Yemen displacement reaches 130,000 amid escalating conflict
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) reports that nearly 130,000 people have been displaced across seven governorates in Yemen due to escalating conflict and insecurity. The displacement rate has accelerated sharply, with over 11,000 people forced to flee their homes in just a three-day period between September 18 and September 21.
Taiz Governorate has become the primary hub for displaced persons, hosting 73,494 individuals. Other significant numbers of displaced people are located in Lahj and Aden. As the humanitarian situation worsens, more than 3,100 people have crossed the Red Sea from Yemen to Djibouti.
On the battlefield, Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea stated that 28 airstrikes hit the Taiz, Marib, and Al-Jawf provinces within a 24-hour window, attributing the strikes to Saudi aircraft. The Houthi movement claims the cumulative number of airstrikes since the recent escalation began has reached 760.
