Yemen education officials coordinate school year preparations

Yemeni education officials are coordinating efforts to prepare for the upcoming 2026–2027 academic year. In Aden, Minister of Education Adel Abdulmajid Al-Abadi met with the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) to discuss expanding partnerships and increasing support for the education sector. NRC Director Freddie Obuka noted that the organization is currently implementing projects in Taiz and the West Coast, funded by the ‘Education Cannot Wait’ fund.

In Marib, Deputy Minister of Education Ali Al-Abab emphasized the need for private schools to adhere to official quality standards and ministerial regulations. He urged school administrators to prioritize educational outcomes over profit margins.

Meanwhile, in the Radfan district of Lahj, local authorities met to discuss school readiness. Local leadership confirmed the continuation of the Teacher Support Fund, which provides a monthly incentive of 50,000 riyals to teachers to support the continuity of the educational process.
