Yemen Faces New Saudi-U.S. Alliance Amid Ongoing Conflict

A new Saudi‑American coalition has been announced, presented as a step to secure navigation in vital maritime corridors. Analysts and Yemeni commentators argue the alliance continues a pattern of costly escalation without clear objectives, describing it as a waste of billions of dollars and a further burden on the civilian population.

The announcement follows the earlier coalition known as Operation Decisive Storm, which carried out more than 250,000 airstrikes and caused over 61,000 deaths, the majority of them civilians. About 40 countries have reportedly declined to join the new alliance, underscoring doubts about its strategic value and humanitarian impact.
