Yemen Foreign Minister sets five conditions for peace

Yemeni Foreign Minister Afrah al-Zouba has outlined five essential conditions for achieving peace in Yemen, most notably the disarmament of the Houthi group and its transformation into a purely political component within the state structure.

During an official visit to Istanbul, al-Zouba stated that the Houthis have used previous peace negotiations as opportunities to arm themselves and expand their capabilities. She characterized the group as a threat to regional and international security, citing their attacks on maritime navigation in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

Al-Zouba also referenced the ‘Fajr al-Yaman’ (Dawn of Yemen) military operation launched by Presidential Leadership Council President Rashad al-Alimi on October 5. The operation aims to liberate the country from Houthi control and restore sovereign decision-making to the state. The Minister further accused the group of collaborating with terrorist organizations in the Horn of Africa and using Yemen as a base to launch attacks against neighboring countries, including Saudi Arabia.
