Yemen: Former Minister warns of risks to General People's Congress

Former Minister of Endowments and Guidance, Mohammed bin Ayda bin Shabiba, has issued an urgent warning regarding the political stability of Yemen. He emphasized that maintaining the cohesion of the General People's Congress (GPC) is a national necessity required to defend the republican system.

Bin Shabiba described the GPC as a vital political umbrella for the majority of Yemenis seeking refuge from Houthi militia rule. He warned that any internal or external efforts to weaken or fragment the party would directly benefit the Houthi project. Describing the party as a primary pillar of the 'republican house,' he cautioned that undermining it could lead to the collapse of the state during what he termed an 'existential battle.'
