Yemen gold prices and exchange rates show regional disparities
Gold prices in Yemen have shown slight increases and relative stability across Sanaa and Aden during late September 2026. Global gold prices were recorded at approximately $4,284.69 for purchase and $4,284.99 for sale per ounce.
In government-controlled areas such as Aden, the price for 21-karat gold reached approximately 183,309 Yemeni riyals, while the US dollar was trading at about 1,562 riyals and the Saudi riyal at 411 riyals. In Houthi-controlled areas like Sanaa, 21-karat gold was priced at approximately 62,843 riyals, with the US dollar trading between 530 and 535 riyals and the Saudi riyal at 140 riyals.
The significant disparity in gold prices and exchange rates between the two regions is attributed to the structural differences in the local currency's value. Despite the relative stability of foreign exchange rates, there are ongoing reports of rising prices for food and essential commodities, exacerbating the economic challenges in the country.
