Yemen Government and United Nations sign development framework for 2027–2029
The Yemeni government and the United Nations have signed the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework for Yemen, covering the period from 2027 to 2029. This agreement marks the first joint cooperation framework between the Yemeni government and the UN system since 2015.
Signed by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Mohammed al-Faqmi and UN Resident Coordinator Laurent Büker, the framework aims to support national development priorities, enhance recovery, and improve essential services. Key focus areas include health, nutrition, education, social protection, food security, and local economies. The plan also addresses climate change resilience, natural resource management—specifically water and energy—and the strengthening of national and local institutions to improve governance and transparency.
In parallel, the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation has held consultative meetings in Aden with private sector representatives to discuss economic and social development and reconstruction plans for the same 2027–2029 period. The discussions emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships in driving economic activity and reconstruction efforts.
