Yemen Health Minister discusses emergency response with Doctors Without Borders

Yemen’s Minister of Public Health and Population, Dr. Qasim Mohammed Buhaybeh, met with representatives from Doctors Without Borders (MSF) in Aden to discuss strengthening emergency medical responses and developing future interventions.

The discussions focused on the rising number of patients requiring urgent medical care due to increased military operations and resulting injuries. Minister Buhaybeh emphasized the need to direct interventions toward the most in-need health facilities to enhance their capacity to handle critical cases and mass casualty incidents.

Othman Al-Haj, the MSF mission head and emergency project coordinator, detailed the organization’s current work at Al-Republic Hospital, which includes supporting infrastructure, logistics, and emergency preparedness. The meeting also covered MSF’s priorities for 2027 and ways to improve coordination with the Ministry to ensure sustainable health services.
