Yemen health ministry receives solar vaccine equipment for Aden and Taiz

The Ministry of Public Health and Population has received specialized equipment to strengthen vaccine cold chain systems and improve measles response in the Aden and Taiz governorates. The shipment includes 32 solar-powered vaccine refrigerators and 12 vaccine freezers.

Funded by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre and implemented by the World Health Organization, the initiative aims to ensure vaccines are stored according to health standards despite frequent electricity outages. Dr. Ali Ahmed Al-Walidi, Undersecretary for Primary Healthcare, noted that these sustainable tools are essential for protecting children and reducing mortality from preventable diseases. The World Health Organization emphasized that the solar-powered technology is a critical investment in the sustainability of immunization services and the reduction of vaccine waste.
