Yemen: Journalist warns of Houthi impersonation tactics

Journalist Fathi bin Lazraq has issued a warning regarding tactics allegedly used by Houthi militia elements to impersonate Arab Coalition officers. According to bin Lazraq, these individuals use international numbers or three-digit numbers and speak with Saudi accents to deceive military personnel and government officials.

The deception reportedly targets fighters on the front lines in Taiz, Bab al-Mandab, and Al-Subayhah, as well as employees in the Ministries of Defense and Interior and other government departments in Aden. The callers use specific details about the targets' locations and deployment areas to establish credibility.

These callers allegedly seek sensitive military information, including troop numbers, vehicle counts, ammunition levels, and leadership movements. In some instances, they have reportedly issued false orders for personnel to withdraw from their positions under the pretext of avoiding imminent airstrikes. Bin Lazraq has called on the Ministries of Defense and Interior to issue urgent internal warnings to all military and government personnel to verify all communications through official channels.
