Yemen launches free medical camps for surgery and chronic‑disease care

In the city of Yafa (Aden governorate), Yemeni authorities inaugurated a free medical camp at Tiba Specialized Hospital. Backed by the Aden Cooperative Charity Hospital, the camp provides general and orthopedic surgery, targeting 100 free operations. On its first day it examined 60 patients, offering procedures such as gall‑bladder stone removal, hemorrhoid treatment, hernia repair, lipoma excision and bone‑related surgeries.

On the same weekend, a second free camp opened in Ridah (Hadhramaut governorate) to treat diabetes and hypertension. The initiative, organized by the Ministry of Public Health, the local health office, the Hadhramaut Diabetes Association and supported by pharmaceutical firms, served 230 patients. Services included medical examinations, laboratory tests, health counselling, and the distribution of free medication.

Both camps are part of broader humanitarian health programmes aimed at expanding free medical access for low‑income residents across Yemen.
