Yemen Ministry of Industry and Trade clears Brazilian sugar for sale

The Yemeni Ministry of Industry and Trade has directed its provincial offices to release shipments of Brazilian sugar, specifically the UB brand, for market circulation. This decision follows laboratory testing that confirmed the product meets approved health specifications and is safe for human consumption.

The directive, issued by Undersecretary Dr. Qasim Al-Hadrami, relies on reports from the Ministry of Public Health and Population and the Yemen Standardization, Metrology and Quality Control Organization. The ministry instructed all relevant units to complete official procedures to ensure the smooth distribution of the product.

This reversal follows a previous decision in late July when the ministry had ordered the withdrawal of the same sugar brand, citing concerns regarding heavy metal contamination. The recent laboratory results from the Supreme Board of Drugs and Medical Appliances have since cleared the product of those health risks.
