Yemen Ministry of Industry and Trade seeks stronger private sector partnerships

Yemen’s Minister of Industry and Trade, Mohammed Al-Ashwal, has emphasized the government's commitment to treating the private sector as a primary partner and driver of economic activity. During a consultative meeting organized by the Economic Reform Team and the Economic Studies and Media Center, officials discussed strategies to enhance institutional dialogue and improve the business environment to face current economic challenges.

The meeting, held via video conference, included representatives from the public-private partnership unit, chambers of commerce, and the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation. Key topics included the need to finalize a legal framework for public-private partnerships (PPP) and the establishment of a joint committee to coordinate economic policies and reforms.

Minister Al-Ashwal noted that the government has submitted a draft decision to the Prime Minister to establish this joint committee, which would be chaired by the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The goal is to transition the relationship from a mere exchange of demands to a collaborative partnership focused on creating practical solutions, ensuring market stability, and fostering investment and job creation.
