Yemen Ministry of Transport warns of supply disruptions after road damage

The Yemeni Ministry of Transport has warned of severe humanitarian and economic consequences following the destruction of a vital ferry on the Heija al-Abd road. This route serves as a critical link between the Lahij and Taiz governorates.

The Ministry held Houthi militias responsible for the attack on the civilian infrastructure, stating that the damage threatens the movement of essential goods, food, and medicine to Taiz and surrounding areas. Officials emphasized that such attacks on bridges, roads, and ferries undermine efforts to alleviate civilian suffering and exacerbate existing economic hardships.

The Ministry called upon the international community, the United Nations, and human rights organizations to take a clear stance against the targeting of civilian infrastructure. It further urged international agencies to conduct an urgent damage assessment and provide the necessary resources to rehabilitate the road and restore transport services to the affected regions.
