Yemen political landscape shifts toward federalism and regional security

Political and security developments in Yemen are focusing on regional stability and the structure of a future federal state. In Al-Jawf, Governor Hussein al-Ajji al-Awadhi stated that defeating the Houthi militia is essential for national security, regional stability, and protecting international shipping lanes. He emphasized that the province's strategic location and tribal cohesion are vital to resisting Iranian-backed influence and restoring order.

Simultaneously, in Hadramaut, political leaders are advocating for a federal model to resolve national conflicts. Former Local Administration Minister Abdulraqib Fatah noted that Hadramaut has laid the groundwork for a federal Yemen by emphasizing decentralization and power-sharing. The Supreme Coordination Conference of Hadramaut has formally called for a federal state and demanded a 20% share of local natural resource wealth. The conference also stipulated that oil exports from the region should not resume until these rights and clear implementation mechanisms are guaranteed.
