Yemen Presidential Leadership Council issues major administrative and military appointments

The Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, led by President Rashad al-Alimi, has issued a series of decrees involving ministerial reshuffles, provincial leadership changes, and military appointments.

In a cabinet reshuffle, Salem Abu Bakr Mohammed Thabit al-Awlaqi has been appointed Minister of Information, replacing Muammar al-Eryani. Judge Akram Nassib Ahmed al-Amiri takes over the Ministry of Civil Service and Insurance, while Ahmed Saleh Ahmed al-Awlaqi has been named Minister of Local Administration.

Provincial leadership changes include the appointment of Major General Amin Ali al-Akimi as Governor of Al-Jawf and commander of its military axis, and Major General Hussein al-Ajji al-Awadhi as Governor of Al-Bayda. These appointments come amid ongoing military operations, such as “Fajr Yemen,” aimed at reclaiming territory from Houthi control.

Additional appointments include the naming of Muammar Mutahhar Mohammed al-Eryani as an ambassador and several technical advisors for the Ministry of Transport. Military and security restructuring also includes the appointment of Major General Amer Abdullah bin Hutiyan as commander of the Second Military Region and Brigadier General Salah Salem al-Mashjari as Director General of the Hadramaut Coast Police.
