Yemen government accuses IRGC and Hezbollah of deploying 21 experts to support Houthis

The internationally recognized government of Yemen has accused Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Lebanon’s Hezbollah of deploying 21 military experts to assist Houthi forces in planning and managing military operations.

Interior Minister Major-General Ibrahim Haidan stated that the group consists of 14 IRGC members and seven Hezbollah operatives. These experts are reportedly distributed across six Yemeni provinces, including Hodeidah, Sanaa, Saada, Hajjah, Amran, and the coastal area of Al-Khokha.

According to the Ministry of Interior, the involvement of these foreign actors has shifted from mere financing and training to direct supervision of military capabilities. Their alleged specialties include command and control, ballistic missiles, drone technology, electronic warfare, and the coordination of maritime attacks against commercial vessels in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandeb strait.

In response to these allegations, Hezbollah has denied the presence of its specialists in Yemen, calling the claims “completely baseless.” Meanwhile, Yemeni President Rashad al-Alimi warned that Iran is using the Houthi militia to compensate for declining regional influence, potentially turning Yemeni territory into a platform for regional instability.
