Yemen reports $1.13 trillion losses from 12‑year Saudi war and blockade

Yemen's Ministry of Economy, Industry and Investment disclosed that more than $1.13 trillion in economic damage has accrued over the past 12 years of the Saudi‑led war and blockade. The losses span all major sectors: industry ($82.5 bn), oil and minerals ($57 bn), agriculture and livestock ($111 bn), foreign trade ($111 bn), treasury and finance ($32.1 bn), transport ($23 bn), electricity, energy and water ($28 bn), fisheries ($12.6 bn), tourism and culture ($11 bn) and health ($7 bn).

The ministry warned that over 30 million Yemenis now face the threat of famine, 27,000 workers have been laid off, and 64 investment projects worth $2 bn have been halted. Damage to infrastructure includes 476 health facilities and widespread destruction of airports, ports, roads and factories, deepening the humanitarian and economic crisis.
