Yemen suspends fuel supply to sanctioned tanker DORIN in Aden

The Yemeni Ministry of Transport has suspended fuel bunkering operations for the tanker ‘DORIN’ at the port of Aden. The decision follows the identification of several risk and compliance indicators, most notably the vessel's inclusion on the U.S. Department of the Treasury's sanctions list.

Investigations by the General Authority for Maritime Affairs revealed that the vessel was using the flag of Guyana, despite Guyanese authorities confirming the ship is not registered under their flag. Additionally, officials noted frequent changes in the vessel's ownership and management, alongside unclear data regarding its classification, protection, and insurance.

A Port State Control (PSC) inspection conducted on August 6 identified deficiencies related to international maritime agreements and safety and operational procedures. The inspection covered legal and technical certificates, crew competency, navigation systems, and fire-fighting equipment. The suspension of fuel supplies will remain in effect until verification processes are completed and required corrective actions are taken to ensure compliance with international maritime standards and the protection of Yemeni territorial waters.
