Yemen weather experts warn of heavy rainfall and flash floods

Meteorologists and the National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning have issued warnings regarding widespread atmospheric instability across Yemen. Heavy rainfall is expected to affect large areas of the country, particularly in the western highlands and internal plateaus, driven by moisture from the Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Aden.

Forecasts indicate heavy rain in Sana'a, Ibb, Dhamar, Al Dhale'e, and Sa'dah, with varying intensities expected in Taiz, Lahj, Raymah, Al Mahwit, Hajjah, Al Bayda, Amran, and parts of the Tihama plain. Other regions, including Marib, Al Jawf, Shabwah, Abyan, Aden, and Socotra, may also experience scattered precipitation.

Authorities have warned of significant risks, including flash floods, thunderstorms, rockslides, and mudslides. Citizens are advised to avoid valleys and flood paths. Additionally, fishermen and maritime travelers in the Gulf of Aden, the western coast, and the Bab al-Mandab strait are cautioned due to expected sea disturbances and reduced visibility from fog.
