Yemen weather warning: Thunderstorms expected in coastal and highland regions

The Meteorological Forecasting and Early Warning Center of the Civil Aviation and Meteorology Authority has issued a weather warning for Yemen, forecasting scattered rainfall that may include thunderstorms across several coastal and mountainous regions.

Forecasts indicate cloudy to partly cloudy skies for coastal areas, with potential thunderstorms on parts of the western coasts, the interior highlands, and the Socotra Archipelago. The mountainous regions, including Al Dhale, Al Bayda, Lahj, and Abyan, are expected to experience varying intensities of rain accompanied by thunderstorms. In desert and plateau areas, conditions are expected to be clear to partly cloudy, with high daytime temperatures and moderate nighttime temperatures.

Regarding maritime conditions, the center reported moderate waves in the coasts of Abyan, Aden, and the Bab al-Mandab Strait, while waves are expected to be light in Mahra, Hadramaut, Shabwah, the western coasts, and Socotra. Fishermen and mariners in the Gulf of Aden and the southwestern and western coasts are advised to exercise caution due to wind activity and sea disturbances. Authorities have also urged citizens and drivers to avoid crossing valleys and flood paths due to potential low visibility.
