Yemen weather warnings issued for heavy thunderstorms and flash floods
The National Center of Meteorology and Early Warning in Yemen has issued weather alerts for heavy and varying intensities of thunderstorms and rain across several regions. Forecasts indicate heavy to moderate rainfall is expected in the mountainous highlands and the Tihama plain, specifically affecting provinces such as Hajjah, Al Mahwit, Raymah, Dhamar, Ibb, and Taiz, as well as parts of Saada, Amran, and Al Dhale'e.
Coastal areas, including the western coast and the Socotra archipelago, may experience thunderstorms and increased wind activity. In desert regions, weather is expected to remain hot and clear, though wind may stir up dust and sand.
Authorities have issued warnings regarding the risks of flash floods in valleys and streams, advising citizens and drivers to avoid crossing them during or after rainfall. Additional warnings include the danger of thunderstorms near high structures and trees, as well as reduced horizontal visibility on roads due to fog and low-lying clouds.
