Yemen weather warnings issued for thunderstorms and flash floods

Heavy thunderstorms and potential flash floods are forecasted across various provinces in Yemen. The National Center of Meteorology and Early Warning has issued warnings for residents to avoid valleys, wadis, and flood paths, and advised drivers against crossing bridges during active flooding.

Weather patterns indicate varying intensities of rainfall. Mountainous regions including Al-Dhale, Taiz, Ibb, Raymah, Al-Mahwit, and Hajjah are expected to see thunderstorms, with scattered rain also possible in Saada, Amran, Sanaa, Dhamar, and parts of Lahj, Al-Bayda, Abyan, Shabwah, Hadramaut, and Al-Mahra. Coastal areas may experience scattered thunderstorms, particularly in the Tihama plain and eastern/western coasts, while the Socotra Archipelago and Gulf of Aden may face turbulent seas and high waves.

Meteorological expert Jamil Al-Haj predicts that rainfall intensity may increase over the coming days, with a high probability of very heavy rain and flash floods in parts of Hadramaut, Shabwah, and southwestern Yemen. While conditions may improve mid-week, the risk of localized heavy downpours remains significant.
